 We build our lives, just so others can tear it down. I cannot truly describe the change in my mood when I suddenly realised where all this is leading to and linked it to the current situation (mind you, there is always a situation like this somewhere in the world)

The 6th evening of dance films

in Kinoteka ended with a discussion with some of the artists. 

 

Broken elbow

I broke my elbow a few weeks ago, cycling. Slipped on a patch of ice. So you can't hire me for photography at the moment. But, I did go to see a sort of poetry evening (poems by Tomaž Šalamun) made into a performance/theatre piece and I thought, I know, I will take my little camera with a fixed 40mm lens and see if I can take any reasonable photos with one hand and a fixed lens. Of course, the results were not quite as good as I would have wanted. but I managed to take a few photos without my arm falling off. Looking forward to my elbow getting better and picking up my proper camera.

One of those shows my camera is just not good enough. When on silent mode it is extremely restricted and one just doesn't want to make a lot of clicks with the audience present. 

(So if patrons of the arts still exist (and if you are willing to call my work art), this is your time to shine)

Day 2 of the mini tour

During which we had an accident (nobody got hurt), went to look for a new car (but didn't buy it), had more fast food than is good for one, had fun and called it rock'n'roll.

It is rare that people take me on tours, but it has started to happen :)

Now, I just need to hope for more events like this.

It seems I have seen so many dance performances by now that I actually had some ideas as to what I would add. Of course, as did was the dress rehearsal the evening before the opening night, I kept them to myself.

(It seems refabricating life is a rather dark experience)

Naked stage, the last day

 

First we watched Sara Šoukal's Art of Process: Artist on Trial,

then we enjoyed The Bohemian Tragedy, which turned out not to be totally tragic, 

and then we all joined in Maja and Juš's farewell party, with two cakes. 

The longest day of the festival

The day started with the young improvisors and their performance Herely and Therely.

After a short brake we continued with Couples, which gave us an insight into imaginary relationships and quite a few laughs.  

Of course, this was followed by the show Afterparty,

with two quite different parts

as well as audience participation. 

And the Karaoke party went long into the night.

2nd day of the Naked Stage festival

gave us the performance 500 seconds 

and the multitalented Urh with his performance Amphibian. 

 

4play is a matter of interpretation (I have learned)

The Naked Stage festival (an improv festival) started yesterday, and after staying a few days in bed because of a stomach bug (and cancelling all photo gigs I had) I finally ventured in the rainy world out there. 

 

The first, Matter of Interpretation, was more of a dance improvisation with a bit of a comic side, as one of them was interpreting the movements of the dancers. 

The second performance, 4play, was based more on gags. 

One cannot help but think and feel

It is strange to see somebody dancing when you know that his hometown is being rocketed every so often. But I guess this really shows that whatever is happening in the world, no matter how strange or terrible, life goes on (for the lucky ones).

is something that has been with me all my life. 

 

When the Bleeding Stops

 

The Icelandic dancer Lovísa Ósk Gunnarsdóttir realised that dancing helps overcome certain problems women experience with the menopause.  

So she invited women going through menopause to join her in dancing.

In the end, everyone was invited to dance on stage. It was a good night.  

Voice Movers

 

When I photograph choirs (which is not that often to be honest) I always want to get a good picture of the entire choir, but it is almost impossible. So instead I try to capture a few singers in the mood.

We celebrated 30 years of the first Slovene rap album together.
