Brett Newski

on his last day of the European tour, just before heading off back to the States.

Jibba Jabba in their hometown (I have no idea where they were off to the next day)

The energetic

(and smiling) frontwoman from Gabi Garbutt & the Illuminations

(and not smiling) frontman from Bless.

The Babe Rainbow

(well the singer of the band) doing their very laid-back set at the Rough Trade.

If I were a paparazzi style photographer

I guess today would be remembered as the day I bumped into the smiling Rod Stewart and his wife somewhere in Mayfair (close to the house with Jimi Hendrix's and Handel's blue plaques), but as I am not it will be remembered for Omni's concert in Rough Trade

and the wonderful evening at the Monarch entitled Charlotte Campbell presents the Songwriters'circle
in which four female buskers from London (well busking in London)

presented their very different

takes on life.

If you rush around

a lot, taking photographs, one day they will hold a festival in your street, just so you do not need to travel far to take photographs.

(The Bethia Beadman Band)
They will give you films (no, I didn't take any photos of them - even though now, come to think of it, I could have), they will give you music,

(Wills Morgan)
 they will give you poetry,

they will give you a community and deck chairs to rest your tired bones,

and when the night falls, they will take you indoors

 (The Hardway)
and give you more music

 (Creole Moon)

(Creole Moon)
until you have had enough and you walk up your street, and go to sleep under the shining moon.

It was a bit of a strange experience

attending a concert in Islington, surrounded by an excellent mixture of nationalities from former Yugoslavia.

As it was her birthday

a few days before the concert (and we sung Happy Birthday at the concert),

she deserves two photos (and all the other performers from the evening to be totally ignored (in this blog, not otherwise). On second thought, that might be a bit harsh, so here is a photo of her brother from the same evening

and one of their guests (do you recognise him?)

I missed the first band

because I was chatting in the beer garden out back, but I managed to fight my way to the front to hear and take some photos of The Jaw
and Blue Deep Ruby.
