For a change I went to a concert in Zagreb. Both bands played Ljubljana the night before, but got invited to the concert and to hang out a bit by a couple of my friends in Zagreb, so hey, why not? This was the warm up band, The Split Dogs (who are not from Split but from Bristol).

They were followed by the main, exceptionally energetic Gogol Bordello, who even managed to keep Tim at the concert to the very end, even though he was not otherwise that impressed by them. "Their energy kept me there, even though I decided I would go home after each song."

 to see a concert in the forest. First Katja Šulc (I thought I would miss her, but I managed to catch a few songs, restless as I was)

Day 2 of the mini tour

During which we had an accident (nobody got hurt), went to look for a new car (but didn't buy it), had more fast food than is good for one, had fun and called it rock'n'roll.

It is rare that people take me on tours, but it has started to happen :)

Now, I just need to hope for more events like this.

Voice Movers

 

When I photograph choirs (which is not that often to be honest) I always want to get a good picture of the entire choir, but it is almost impossible. So instead I try to capture a few singers in the mood.

The final concert of the Tramonto summer season on Krk kicked off with Juno Nao 

continued with Mary May

and ended with Seine (all three of them Croatian bands)

(It is nice to have some concerts while at the seaside)

Kamfest

 

Went to Kamfest today with a friend. Haven't been there for a while, so it was good to be back. First we saw and listened to Niko Novak, the sole rider from what used to be the duo Incurabili. He seems to have become a tad darker since his music partner died, but unfortunately that is all a part of life.

After that we (bumped into a few other friends at the first concert, walked back into the town centre and listened to a bit of Koala Voice (a completely different feeling, different music and a much bigger crowd).

Panik Deluxe

 

Back in my old haunt, a place I used to sort of work years ago. Who wouldn't go and check out a performer who calls herself Panik Deluxe?

Used to be a sister, brother, sister act (Kitty, Lewis and Daisy), but now they have become a brother, sister and husband act.  

When in London over summer

 

visit Dalston Eastern Curve Gardens (and try to make it there while there is a concert on). It is a nice, hidden garden, with some great events going on. This time we went to see Xambi

which were followed by the main band of the evening, 

Nana Benz du Togo.
