Cypress trees

Went to a poetry evening where I listen to some poetry by Petra Koršič and listened to some live music by Lado Jakša, who also made the multi-vision show, which made the place so dark I couldn't take any really good pictures, so this is what you get today.

New venue, band already seen before

This time we went to see LeLee in the incredibly dark venue known as Lok4cija... ISO to the max and you can almost not notice it was pitch dark.

LeLee

It is bloody brilliant being back at various cultural events on an almost daily basis.

Kačis

as they were formed during the covid lockdown or just before covid changed our lives, I managed to catch them at their second concert ever.

Garden Couch festival day #2

started off with an early afternoon concert by the Croatian artist Martin Ladika

after a lunch break that was longer than I expected (one of the performances was cancelled) and a stroll to a different part of the city, I saw an improvisation theatre performance...

and after another stroll and a bit of a reading (in the sun) break I saw another performance, and to my great surprise Ryuzo was in it.

Garden Couch Festival

started off with Hana Fatur (and her sister Lara, who didn't make it to the blog somehow). I haven't seen live performances for so long I swear I had a huge lump (of coal, or maybe the pressure was so great it had changed to diamond) in my throat and my eyes were trying their best to be a strong dam and hold back all the water that seems to be floating around in my head....

then it was time to walk to a garden in the centre of town where I (and a few others) listened to Mileta Grujić

and then went back for Katanari, a guitar duet...

and the evening ended with a relaxed jam session... And there you go, for a day, life seemed to be normal and it seemed to make sense...

Rhizosphere

by Luka Prinčič

in a full greenhouse in Tivoli.

Listeners closed their eyes, letting the sounds flow through them.

It has been a long time since I last took photos of a concert on Krk

This time I saw Don Demižon & Ego3pizze

 Eni i Vjeko Band

Buco i Kalašnjikovi.

Hopefully I will see many more in the future and might even pop to Rijeka while it is the European Capital of Culture (somebody get me a photo pass, please).

And yes, we have lived long enough to attend the first post-lockdown indoor concert

the happiness to be able to sing on stage again can clearly be seen

 as can the effort

but it was not all about singing and making voices with the body, there were musicians playing instruments there to, plenty of them... but as usual I'll show only a few of the performers on my blog... but thanks to all participants for bringing some normality back to life...

Punk Choir

or, to call them by their name, ZTZ Ruđer Boškovič - a very entertaining performance.
And before we left a Russian activist came to remind us that:

Tori Story

met new people at this edition of the Couch Festival. It is a lovely idea for people to open up their homes to musicians and total strangers who want to come and listen to them.

This year's Couch Festival started (for me) with

Juan Zuleta & Danaja Koren on the sofas in Kucha

followed by an early evening session by Hannah James and Toby Kuhn in Apotheka

and the evening was brought to an end by Blueharp Robert

and Josip Broz Trio in Žmauc.

Slovene day of culture

First I met a good friend of mine and we went to visit a few artist studios in Švicerija (surprisingly I didn't take any photos there), then I went back home to do some work (the work of a freelance cultural worker is never done) and in the evening I went to see a few short dance films as chosen by my Friend 'Mračni' which was followed by a short discussion. After this I went to the annual bake off and sing along of the female choir Kombinat, but as I was late, I missed the choir and the food, but I caught the surprise band of the evening (a trio which included an accordionist).

Ment day 2

my evening started off with Melidah, who was playing a box which read her movements and this influenced the music and the video projection - a  bit like a theremin, but on steroids (I guess there is a lot of programming behind it)

followed by the always entertaining Alicia Edelweis, this time with a band

and Amorante, who many of us unfortunately left in the middle of the performance as we headed for another concert (honestly it had nothing to do that with the autotuner you used in the song just before we left...)

... of course, by the time I reached the band I left Amorante for, it was so crowded I did not make it to the front to take a photo, so after a while we went to see Čao Portorož

and then I strolled cross the courtyard to finish off my evening with Rush to Relax.
