Music and translation (and photography)

After translating I went to listen to this debate about translating word games in literature for youth

And after that and a little chat and a beer Sanja and I went to a concert just around the corner where we enjoyed Martin Ramoveš and Miha Erič doing their stuff

and stayed to hear BorZak and their surprised guitarist for a while. s

New venue, band already seen before

This time we went to see LeLee in the incredibly dark venue known as Lok4cija... ISO to the max and you can almost not notice it was pitch dark.

What I carry with me

(apart from my camera of course)

It has been a while since I saw a dance performance in Kino Šiška, but luckily they still put on shows every now and then.

Touring Machine

I first came across Touring in my (often long) walks during my Notting Hill years, when I often walked along the Grand Union Canal, pass Little Venice and into the Paddington Basin, where there was this geeky electronic computer generated work dedicated to Alan Touring (perfect for my geek friend Jaka).

But this time I popped into the rehearsals for the new play on Touring called Touring Machine at Mini Teater Ljubljana (and took a few photos)...

LeLee

It is bloody brilliant being back at various cultural events on an almost daily basis.

Continuing with festivals

The first show was NOiseCircus within the Klovnbuf festival (which to me seemed a great exercise for the performance, but reminded me too much of some other things I have seen to think it was also great for the audience)

followed by Cabaret Tiffany at Dobimo se pred Škucem (which is their most popular evening every year).

Kačis

as they were formed during the covid lockdown or just before covid changed our lives, I managed to catch them at their second concert ever.

Ignor - evening 7

I was running a bit late, so I only caught up with the event when Tom Veber was reading poetry
 (not only his).

He was followed by Aiko Zakrajšek

Ana Resnik and her lockdown poetry

Miha Maurič

Urška Kramberger

Anja Novak

Natalija Milovanović

and, of course, our master of ceremony Dejan Koban.

The success of Slovenian cyclists in the Tour de France and the Olympics

is a result of the weekly Tour de Parliament held for over a year in protest against the Slovene government.

Of course, after every great workout one needs to visit a cultural event.

This time I went to the Re-humanisation festival (inspired by the title)

to listen to experimental music.

Opening of a photographic exhibition

that has a photo of me in it for a change (but of course I would never photograph - let alone post - a photograph of me, so if you want to see it you should go to the exhibition and search for it amongst the 700+ photographs - that should help you spend a rainy summer day).
(Thanks Jernej once again for your excellent project)

followed by a beer while listening to DJ Woo D and his Disco Lovers Extravaganzza.

Elephant in the room

as galleries are still (fairly) empty, anybody who enters is the elephant in the room, this time it was the artist of the exhibition himself.

Garden Couch festival day #2

started off with an early afternoon concert by the Croatian artist Martin Ladika

after a lunch break that was longer than I expected (one of the performances was cancelled) and a stroll to a different part of the city, I saw an improvisation theatre performance...

and after another stroll and a bit of a reading (in the sun) break I saw another performance, and to my great surprise Ryuzo was in it.

Garden Couch Festival

started off with Hana Fatur (and her sister Lara, who didn't make it to the blog somehow). I haven't seen live performances for so long I swear I had a huge lump (of coal, or maybe the pressure was so great it had changed to diamond) in my throat and my eyes were trying their best to be a strong dam and hold back all the water that seems to be floating around in my head....

then it was time to walk to a garden in the centre of town where I (and a few others) listened to Mileta Grujić

and then went back for Katanari, a guitar duet...

and the evening ended with a relaxed jam session... And there you go, for a day, life seemed to be normal and it seemed to make sense...

World Dance Day

for the second year running, the Ljubljana dancers celebrated the international dance day with Pina Bausch's choreography: The Nelken Line. In the open air, through town, to the enjoyment of the performers and most of the passers-by (and this photographer of course)
