At the end

I wonder why they have not put here on stage before the end of the concert... She certainly livened up the evening

Saint Zircus

As will be the case on most days for the next month (I guess) I went to Trnfest again. The first band seemed to lack any sort of contact with the audience (or maybe I just needed some time to unwind from all the work I've done over the day), and the second, well I have seen them a couple of times before. I like their first performance the most, 'cos it was by far the most energetic and full of fun ideas that people have when they are starting something new and they have lots of energy and only want to enjoy themselves... the second was my least favourite and this most recent one was somewhere in between. But as I have already seen them I was looking for what will be new. And I have to say that I found a few religious moments.. and here is one of them (but not the only one)...

The Wall

of famous musicians in Kranj. I wonder if they are trying to make a claim on them?

And here is another one that will hopefully put a smile on my dad's face.

Stand up

I always liked a bit of stand-up. (Once I even prepared a routine for Sanje festival and said I would step (probably should have used stand) in if one of the comedians doesn't show up - don't remember what it was all about and no, in the end I did not do it - but I would have done if I was called to do it, just to let you know). Well, no that's a lie... there was a time in my life when words meant nothing to me. It was the time that I called not so long ago my dada period. But it has been entertaining me for quite a few years. The only problem is that living in a small country as Slovenia, and stand-up being relatively new here, there are not that many comedians (stand-upians?) and you have soon heard all of their routines... and then they start repeating themselves... but... that’s the way it goes...
And the photo? Well, I chose it because the perspective is a bit funny ...

Trnfest

has started! It is the 19th repetition of it. And the 5th repetition of Trnfoto (which Damjan and I started)... There was a year when Trnfest kept me alive... well at least gave me a reason to get out of bed and struggle all the way there. When I had lyme disease. I slept all day and all night just so I would have enough energy to get there in the evening. And the first evening I was driven there (thanks Petja) and after ten minutes was so exhausted I had to be driven back (still managed the strength to make my way to the stage and take a few photos though). By the end of the festival (34 days later) I could stay there for the entire concert (one and a half hours) and maybe stay for another half hour talking... Yey! That is what I call progress. But no such problems this year... This year I just plan to enjoy it and take some photos (but I can’t place them in the competition as I am one of the jury... that’s not fair, is it?).

The total perspective vortex

I have arrived.
Do your worst.
I have seen it all before anyway.

There is nothing you can do
that could possibly be worse
to what my brain has already done to me.

Suck me in.
Spit me out.
Destroy me in seconds,
‘cos believe me
this would be the easy way out.

Chaos.

I tell you, chaos. And no, I do not have in mind the concert (well the sound system was a bit chaotic) at which I took this photo. My blog is chaos. Total chaos. July has not been a good month for consistency. Not so much daily. But still... I try my best and I guess that will just have to be good enough. For me. For you. For all.

Djembabe

I have noticed that I have not posted any concert photos on my blog since the end of the jazz festival. I think I should do something about this. Here is a photo from an all female (except for their guest who arrived for the last two or three songs) mainly percussion band. Even though it was enjoyable one could not help but notice that if they tried to get into a bit more risky music, they had the tendency to get slightly lost in it.

Student fashion show

As anyone who knows me could tell you I am not a great fashion aficionado. I wear what I like to call clothes... You know something that is roughly the right size, that looks almost OK, that covers my body and keeps it warm, especially in the winter.
But my lack of interest in what I am wearing does not mean I find all clothes uninteresting... When walking down the streets there are times when I look at a piece of clothing twice (no, really) and I have been to a fashion show or two. At fashion show I tend not to even look at the articles as clothes, but more as a piece of creativity. A lot (but not all mind you) of fashion show clothes are anyway clothes that nobody could ever wear... well, no I tell a fib. Obviously the models wear them at the shows, but that is about it. This time there were one or two I liked, a couple that were interesting but impossible to wear, a few that made me giggle (which is also good) and quite a few that didn’t do anything for me (but even at these I enjoyed myself as I can my trusty camera with me). Here is a picture that does not really show that much fashion, but it is my favourite as a photo (if you are interested in student fashion production in Ljubljana you know where to find my pics).

And

a normal day... Which these days means working all day, but for a change I managed to escape and go out to see a concert and a play. Ahhh... how I missed watching and listening to other people's creativity. Hope I manage to repeat this tomorrow and go and see something again... I need to get back in my routine, otherwise I might become even crazier then I already am.

Boy's stuff

while driving around on Sunday I found some boys toys... I was never really interested in all this (even though I would give it a try given the chance), but I thought it could be an intersting photo op... and it was fun to photograph for a change...

Finally!

Friday night and a bit of time to pop into the world with my camera. Went to an exhibition and then wanted to also catch a preformance, but after a hectic week socialising got in the way...

A week

where I truly had to work non stop and had no time or energy to take any photos... I know it is a true disaster for all you followers...of course I also made a true mockery of the daily photo bit..

Underwater

As I went cycling on this hot Sunday I found a stream into which I thought I should dip my feet into. Luckily for me I had my little pocket cam with me that can take pictures and record movies under water. I wanted to make a whole thriller out of it but as this week has been so incredibly nusy with work and I have had no time to take new pictures or organise this footage into a thriller, I will give you the uncut version. While watching you should imagine some string music and a whole lotta tension, as well as some editing and a reduction to a minute and a half...

Fairies

Sometimes, as you go for your weekend walkies, you stumble across a fairy in the woods... I don't know, do they make wishes come true?

Friday, 9 July 2010

Hi mum,

this one is for you. Yesterday I went to an exhibition and even though this artpiece (or at least a part of it) is nothing that has not been seen yet nor is it groundbreaking in any way... hey, it is not even the best photo I took yesterday... but it still deserves a place on my blog... This one is for you as you are quitting smoking at the moment - a slight encouragement.

Graphic prints

Went to an exhibition of graphic prints made by artists who do otherwise not dabble in this form... But they had an art colony sort of thing going on and they all did some prints for a change... As this exhibition was in a cafe and the lights were all wrong and the prints were all under glass I could not get a good photo of them without loads of reflections ... This is probably the best as regards the lighting and stuff, even though it is not my favourite... but I am sure all beetle fans will love it.

A meeting...

A day for writing...

... something.

Licking Sarah Kane's pain

Picking up Dali's kneecaps
scattered on the ground
during the summer storm.
Tossing them away one by one
'cos they don't fit the hole.
In the midst I kneel
rejecting reality.

Chasing Picasso's eyeballs
rolling around in the dirt
following a brief encounter with terror.
Tossing them away one by one
'cos they don't fit the hole.
Blind I stand
unable to see reality

Licking Sarah Kane's pain
that filled the air
as the life got punched out of me.
Unable to make it go away
'cos it fits the hole
where I once used to be.

Trio Debilana...

... is back! No, it is going forward. To the finals in SA. After a long, long time we started recording a new video-parody-thingy, I don't know, whatever we call it. Let's call this genre a debilana spot from now on... So a new one is slowly on the way... and here is a single frame sneak preview...

Impro comedy

Even though I am a great fan of stand-up comedy routines I also enjoy improvised comedy stuff... Even though I suppose once you have seen a few routines, you do realise that the improvisation is slightly limited... but I suppose if absolutely everything was improvised it would be extremely hard to sort of guarantee a good time... But anyway... more laughter all round...

Street theatre

takes to the sky... It seems that street performers are finding the streets overcrowded, so they reach upwards and beyond. In this case quite high at times...

More jazz?

Yes, why not? Saw two bands that I liked today... The first were Get the Blessing (but the photo is not of them) and the second was Anthony Joseph & The Spasm Band, which reminded me of the Notting Hill (ahhh... take me back home... ) carnival in a way.
