Of course

when you go shoping you don't expect to end up having lunch at the lake side... So you find yourself there without a proper camera, but at least you have the little toy one on your phone with you.

The red balloon

There is a part of my childhood I don't remember. You know, you hid it so well, every time you try to go there you come across bolted doors. All the doors are shut and only a stream of light manages to squeeze through the gap under the door. One such ray of light managed to make its way into the hidden corners of my memory when I went to see the exhibition by Marko Mrše and saw this photo collage. It immediately reminded me of the film The red balloon, which I could not give you a synopsis of, but I do remember the sort of feeling I had when I watched it (or what I believe I remember to be the feeling, I will have to watch it again and see what it brings up) and I remember where I watched it and who took me to watch it. So, it seems that I better watch it again and see what happens...

Basically

it is not about cleaning up the world (well, yeah, it is, but that is not really the point, even though it is great to hear that 15% of the country's population went to tidy up our backyard - but hey, that is less people than attend an average referendum in this country, and we all know that the attendance there is crap), it is about learning not to throw the rubbish away just anywhere in the first place... And learning to recycle. And for the ones on the other end to learn not to use too much packaging. And to make stuff that doesn't break or tear within a fortnight, so you do not need to buy a new one. And I guess if we all learn a bit about this, we have done a lot.

Theatre day

Now, this was a real tough one. I have seen six plays and a dance performance in a single day. And how can I chose which photo to show? It is impossible... Should I show a photo from the performance I liked best? Or from the performance I could link a lot of memories to. Or from the perfomance I liked least and I could explain why I didn't like it? I have no idea. In the end I chose a photo that shows I still like playing around when photographing, I just like having a bit of fun. And it isn't the best one of the day, and it is not from the play I liked best, or from my least favourite one, it is just the photo I chose for the blog.As for the rest, I guess you know where to find them...

Happy

musician. Wouldn't it be great if everybody enjoyed what they were doing?

Slovenian music week

For some strange reason a week never actually lasts 7 days in this country. The fashion week lasted 2 days, the music week lasts 5 days and surprise, surprise all employers demand that the working week should last a minimum of 12 days.

Ok, now I am just

bored and entertaining myself with daft ideas, so if I can't go to the theatre to see a play, I might as well stage one with these little wooden figures that I got when I was about 12, and then take some photos (How addicted am I?)
(But at least the fact that I am bored shows that I am getting better - kept the temperature below 38C all day - yey!)

2nd day

of staying indoors. Not going anywhere. As luck would have it, after not having any work for ages, I got work on the very day I had a temperature of 38°C.
(If you were wondering 2 rolls of toilet paper is the minimum I use every day to blow my nose)

Sick, sick, sick

And my, do I hate it. And as I didn't get to go to the concert, I don't have a photo to post. But this will tell you how I feel. (By the way even though I was there when this was made, it has absolutely nothing to do with me - it is a work Dejan Kaludjerovic made for his Ljubljana exhibition)

What a day

Of course it went all wrong. Of course there was much more running around than one had planned. Of course the cold started to spread through the body. Of course you didn't see the daylight, except through the dusty windscreen.
But in the end all of the paintings and photos hung on the walls. People turned up. Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. And the musicians came. And surprised you with three of your songs, when you thought there would only be one.

Hanif

Kureishi. In my neighbourhood. And I only learned about this half an hour before he was to appear on stage (sometimes - rarely mind you- it is good to watch TV). At moments like these you are glad that Ljubljana is small and that you live close to the center. So guess who grabbed his camera and whizzed into town?
While listening to him I definitely wanted to chuck away my non-existant day job and get into writing and photographing full time. I guess there is not much to lose at the moment (is there?) and reading Down and out in Paris and London (by George Orwell) will teach me how to survive on two Francs a day (I think I still got a few of them at home, sitting worthlessly in an after eight box). (So keep your fingers crossed)

I have a feeling

I don't often take a photo with the entire band on. But this one I like, because they all seem rather energetic.

It's always hard

to decide which photo to post when there is a long evening behind. I couldn't decide whether to post one from a performance or one from a concert. And then if I decided to do one from the concert I had to decide whether to go for one act or the other. Ufff... it is tough being a blogger. In the end I decided for this one (hope you enjoy it).
(Just so you get an idea, these were the events of the evening I was chosing from: PointLess, Dubzilla, N'Toko.)

One day...

Sometimes, not often mind you, I am called to come and photograph a film projection. And I immediatly start worrying about how can I photograph that. And when I worry, I agonise. It is just the sort of person I am. While watching this film I realised that my problems are really rather unimportant in the global perspective, regardless of how momentous they currently seem to me.
It made me want to sit on my bike and ride around the world taking photographs of everything that is wrong in this world (hopefully I would also find some nice things on the way). However, I might not be quite ready yet, so you will just have to settle (as will I) for my blog as it is for the time being... and then one day, yes, I know, we all say this, all of the time, one day, one day, ... when everything will be so right, or when everything will be so wrong and terible, ... I will change something... hopefully. And when I do, join me.

It is soothing to know

that no matter whether you turn left or right, you will walk along the path of revolutionary traditions.

For the child

within. Every one of us. Even when we feel the grown up world is getting on top of us. Or maybe especially then.

When

your friend is sick at home when she would really much rather be at the concert. Well, you have to do something, don't you?

Sometimes

you just prefer the supporting act, or maybe you are just more in the mood for it.
