Scottibrains

Went to Rough Trade in Brick Lane to see Scottibrains, who I knew absolutely nothing about
but I discovered they have two singers, who switch half way through the concert (like substitutes in football) but neither of them seemed to mind too much that their effects were not reliable (about as reliable as my camera) - even though the band seemed to have it quite together - so I didn't wait to the very end (who knows, maybe it got better?) and instead

remembered than my friend Chris was playing somewhere, so I phoned him up to see where they are playing and he kindly put me on the guest list and I walked (I do like my walks) to Angel (or Islington? I am never really sure with these two)  and watched Chris perform with The Members at the Hope and Anchor (Oh, and I got sort of threatened by a guy while taking photos, but that's another story)...
Anyway, here are a few of the other band members (but not all)

the drummer (was never introduced to him so I don't know his name)
 and Calle

We are all tourists

in this world, on this particular day in my life, I was a tourist in the Cotswolds.

I can't believe how empty

Acklam Village can be on a hot summer day, but it has nothing to do with the musicians, I think everyone has just buggered off to the seaside to cool down a bit. And to make it worse the two people I came with also wanted to be outside rather than inside, but I did go in to listen to a few songs by HOOLi
and a couple by Ben Brown (and of course to take a few photos, because that's what I do and I also wanted to check how my camera is behaving after yesterday's shock).

International Busking Day

at Wembley Park, with Impact Dance (ufff I miss taking dance photos)

the one man band Lewis Floyd Henry

Keelan Phillips trying to 'talk' the girl into a date

the Rooftop Trio taking us all back in time, when we still had things like lover's lanes and apple trees

Nina Nesbitt doing her performance before shooting off to Sheffield to do an evening concert (did I remember that correctly?)

Newton Faulkner almost getting the tuning right

and Keywest brought it all to an end (but only after I had a most terrible fall with my camera and my most cherished lens - the memory is still to painful (but my knees and calf are getting better) to go into that).

Half of TPM

went on a totally mental curry spree (but also showed his great affection for the dish)

with June I had no idea which band member to post, in the end I decided to go with this photo (and I guess this will keep you guessing about the band)

and the night was brought to an end by Zoe West and the Hanging Baskets (and the fans going wild).

Even as we speak

regrouped and travelled all the way from Australia to give us a small intimate concert in Rough Trade.

Irish night in Dalston

Stephen James Smith closed his eyes and submerged into a different world, a world littered with dead friends and acquaintances, but each one of them seemed to leave behind a smile, a tiny warm memory, an inspiration to go on or try something new...

Lilla Vargen also flew straight in from Ireland and was extremely proud of her new band (but she did stress she was not their mother)

Jack Tyson Charles was not on the bill, but he did give us a surprise two song appearance

and David Keenan slowly brought the evening to an end.

Acklam Saturday

 With Lucy Warr

 the smiling Ivy Sutherland

the pensive singer from Odd Soul

and the louder and more energetic part of the Full Blown Acoustic duo.

Donald visited London

today, so I went to take a photo...

but in the evening I went to see Breathe Panel at Rough Trade, just to get a bit of that on the brighter side of life feeling.

My Grass is Blue

hosted by Foghorn Leghorn (this is their banjo player)

presenting Dana Immanuel and the Stolen Band (the percussionist, with a face full of expressions)

the guitar player, who can do all of the rock and roll guitar things siting down (not enough space on stage)

and the violin player (there is of course also Dana and the bass player in the band, but I will send you on a bit of a look around if you want to find them (and more of the presented)).

I had the best CD night ever

as Dom Glynn gave me one of his special handcrafted specials
(thank you)

and Rhys Kirkman gave me two of his EPs.
(and thank you too)

I must let you know this is totally unprecedented (receiving 3 CDs in a night), as I am rarely given CDs, even though I am incredibly fond of listening to them.

Laura Perrudin

started off the evening showing us what you can do with a harp and some electronics

and Garance followed her, and there was a point when she forgot to play while looking dreamily at me, but hey, it is all in this busy photographer's day

the people where dancing and enjoying themselves in this hidden garden somewhere in Dalston

and at the end of the evening Joe gave Garance a birthday cake with fireworks and all. Happy Birthday Garance and thanks to Joe for being his normal attentive self.
